Now, it's back to the salt mines for me!  I return to work next Thursday, but I have leadership on Tuesday. That means I only have a few precious days of summer vacation to cram in all of the last minute creating, decorating, planning, sleeping in, watching reality T.V., going to the bathroom any ol' time I want, etc.  I better get busy! ;)

Memorial Day Sale

Don't be a hater....my last day with students was this past Friday.  I know, you want to throw rotten tomatoes at me, but just remember that I started in early August when you were still lazing your days away at the beach.  Did you put the rotten tomato down? Don't we all want products that we can actually use in our classrooms? I know that I have bought products that didn't live up to my expectations once I opened the file.  My lapbooks are products that you will use over and over again because they help students not only learn the content, but they also provide the opportunity to continue to develop fine motor skills which is still practice needed by many second graders!  I also have a lapbook for Martin Luther King, Jr. and a bundle at a discounted price with all three of these lapbooks included.  The price for the bundle is $5.60 - less than the price of a combo at your local burger joint!

I created this unit to coincide with the 102nd Day of Second Grade. The kindergartners celebrate the 100th day of school, and the first graders celebrate the 101st day of school with a Dalmatian theme. The only 102nd day of school theme I could find on TpT was Dalmatians, and let's face it. None of us wants to hear students say been there, done that!  Hence, this unit was born!  However, it is filled with zoo animal research, writing, and math that relates to second grade CCSS standards and could be used at any time during the year. It has technology built in through the use of QR codes and website addresses if you lack devices to utilize the QR codes. It is differentiated through the use of various graphic organizers, and it contains a report "frame" for your struggling writers.  In a nutshell, this is a TKES dream lesson!! Those are just some of the reasons this is one of my top selling units.

Today there was a full moon and a field trip for my grade level. Needless to say, my get-up-and-go got up and went about 4 hours ago!!

Before I literally drag my worn out self to bed (that would be after preparing my own 3 boys and after brushing my somewhat mossy feeling teeth), I wanted to let you know that I have posted a new freebie in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.  This freebie is a review of plane and solid figures. It could be used from kindergarten through third grade by removing cards that are not appropriate for your grade level. This doesn't require a great deal of prep work: printing, laminating, and cutting...ready to go!  I have math centers, so I made 4 sets of cards because I typically have 6-8 kids in my groups.  That makes the color printing a little easier to swallow!

Side Note for Kindergarten Teachers:
I just left kindergarten after a decade long stint, so I must warn those of you in K that this would be for your top kiddos as it is currently made. In order to use it with more of your kiddos, you might want to turn it into a matching game by putting the number of sides on a different card. Or, you could cover up the name on the bottom and add a separate card for matching the shape name and the shape. The possibilities are endless!
